da bathroom is quite big! can be fit a double bed...very comfort location
da Bar downstairs was full our drunkers... but it was a lovely place to spend the weekend there..
It was very centrally located. One could walk to almost every single main attraction in Edinburgh. Just down the street from Edinburgh Castle. Rooms in the hotel were very picturesque, each honoring a famous Scotsman, such as Robert Louis Stevenson and Robert Burns. Ours honored James Simpson, a pioneer of anesthesia, in the form of chloroform. One wall of the room was shelves in an apothecary shop, with dozens of bottles and various vials and potions. There were several bookcases of medical books. The dresser drawers were all made to look like drawers which would be holding patients' and prescriptions' information. All in all it was quite delightful. Although the rooms were located atop a very busy pub, on a very busy street, it was very quiet.
The bathtub is way too high for short people, elderly people, or anyone with any sort of handicap. The bottom of the tub is very slick, therefore dangerous as well. I prayed that I wouldn't fall and hurt myself every time I got in and out and while I was showering. As careful as I was I hurt my knee, badly bruising it, while getting out of the tub. But it seems like all the tubs in Great Britain are similar to that. I wonder why there aren't more bathtub related incidents, or maybe there are?...
Excellent location right on the Royal mile. Friendly and forthcoming staff and bed was clean and nice. We booked a room w/ doublebed, but when we wanted to change it to 2 single beds the staff did it without problems.
Room was very expensive compared to the comfort. You pay for the location. Don't expect anything fancy.
liked the idea of the themed rooms and would consider staying again to view what the other rooms are like. tv in great working order and dvd player and fridge were a nice touch.
having to walk through the busy bar on a friday night to get to our room we endured a crude comment and although we could not hear any noise from the bar downstairs we were kept awake with people in the next room playing loud music.
Location is good. Not a recently refurbished hotel so the facility is kind of ancient.
Noisy at night as there is a bar right under your room.
The rooms decor was outstanding
Nothing, staff where very friendly and helpful.
the hotel is very close to the Edinburgh Castle (10 min walking)!
the room was themed and very cool, maybe not to everyones taste, but it was like a mini museum
Theres no reception area as the hotel is over a bar
fun hotel, in the vibrant center of the city
fab location & building. Bril staff. Bedroom was comfortable well furnaished & luxurious. A memerable stay
A leake in the bathroom meant there was a bit of a smell in the bathroom
Rooms were very shabby for the price. General decor of the hotel was tired. Very noisy location especially on a saturday night. You have to go through very busy roudy bar to get to the entrance to the rooms
It was quirky and well located. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. We liked the room even though the plumbing was noisy and there wasn't anywhere suitable to dry our hair.
We knew it was above a pub and may be a bit noisy but was more disturbed by the baby constantly crying all night in the next room. The problem I had drying my hair is a basic issue which should be addressed. Complimentary tea and coffee facilities were fine but the shampoo and showel gel sachets left on the bath came across as a poor cost saving measure which didn't do the hotel justice. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to people who struggle with noise at night and have problems with stairs.
staff were very friendly and hepful
Bank Hotel is ideally located, with spacious room.
You need to be mobil to use this hotel as there are a lot of stairs. Do not be put off by its location as its not noisey. A little more attention to detail is required as there was a cracked wash hand basin in the bathroom also it would have been good to have the use of a rubber bath mat. No hotel information in the room.
The location is absolutely the best (Royal Mile). Rooms are new, clean, spacy and stylish.
The stairway was under construction, delay with check-in.
